Imminent Occurrence will make its Berlin Fashion Week debut with KEYI Magazine and Studio5 through a one-night-only presentation built from the brand’s philosophy of authenticity, transformation, ritual, resistance, beauty, perseverance, and the difficult process of becoming real.

Performance as Inauguration

For its first presentation, IO will stage a live performance developed from the world behind the work rather than a conventional product presentation. Through Butoh performance by Valentin Tszin and live improvisational sound by Makoto Sakamoto, the piece explores transformation, ritual, and resistance, giving physical form to the pressure of an undefined future, the discipline of process, and the refusal to compromise integrity.

Valentin Tszin

Valentin Tszin is a Berlin-based artist and dance researcher. His method draws on dramatic theatre, taekwondo, Butoh, and throat singing. Since encountering Butoh in 2008, he has understood his artistic practice as an ongoing, unfinished transformation.

The clothing and footwear are present as part of this world, but the work is driven by the philosophy behind IO: struggle, beauty, movement, sound, material, and the anticipation of a blurry yet palpable coming occurrence resting just behind the thin curtain of time.

About Imminent Occurrence

Imminent Occurrence makes tall handmade Goodyear welted leather boots, with a growing line of leather outerwear and limited-run apparel. The original designs are produced in León, Guanajuato, Mexico: a historic center of leather, boots, suppliers, machinery, and footwear knowledge.

The brand was created to make the kind of boots we could not find elsewhere: tall, expressive, durable, wearable, and made with integrity rather than shortcuts. Our work feeds the underground and sits between classical fashion, industrial craft, and practical construction.

Why “Imminent Occurrence”

The name Imminent Occurrence means something just about to happen: a coming event, a premonition, an undefined future. An ode to the zeitgeist of unease and instability that every generation feels across the globe, today.

It began as a private joke about the long process of bringing the brand into reality. For years, everything was almost ready: samples, production, corrections, deadlines, promises. Everything was always imminent.

Eventually, we decided to take things into our own hands. DIY to the extreme.

We built the workshop we had been looking for: a small production space where we could work directly with artisans, materials, components, and quality. No fake heritage. No luxury theater. No plastic pretending to be leather. No glue standing in for construction. Leather, thread, nails, welts, soles, hands, machines, time.

The result is footwear and clothing made for people who want to feel prepared, grounded, and fully themselves in an uncertain world shaped by crisis, war, nature in revolt, and global instability.

“People always ask me, ‘Why do you think there’s a market for tall boots for men?’ I answer, ‘Have you ever been to a museum?’ For most of history, tall boots were the norm. The people who made history wore them. Only recently did we start putting plastic garbage puffs on our feet. I’d like to put an end to that. Would you want to be caught dead in them?”

Inaugural Product Line

Years in the making. From a haunting vision to a severe reality.

The inaugural line includes tall boots, short boots, leather outerwear, leather trousers, leather shorts, and limited-run pieces built through the IO workshop model in León. The work is unisex, direct to consumer, and available for wholesale relationships with select outlets.
